Falling Behind and New Table

Sharing is caring!

Hi everyone! I know the blog has been light on content these past 10 days, I’m sorry!  I have gotten so behind on my business projects and on life in general. My goal this week is to slowly make my way back to a “normal” schedule for our family (although nothing is ever really normal!) There have been two deaths in my family in the past month, both of which called for some unplanned travel and family grieving time.  Sandwiched in between those two events, my husband and I snuck away for an overnight to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.  The baby became a 2 year old in early April, and he’s doing all of those things that are developmentally appropriate (like making his wants and needs very clearly known to everyone), but also pretty annoying.DSC08801Then there was Easter and some last minute changes to our celebration plans, also school, soccer games, extra church events . . . You get the picture  I’m starting to feel a little crazy.DSC08724I’m pretty type A, and I like to have my weeks go by in an orderly manner where I make regular progress on my responsibilities both at my home and business.  I will readily admit I am not very good at going with the flow.  But we’re in that season, and so I am asking for extra grace to just be in the moment and focus on what God has for me today.

This is the day that the Lord has made;  let us rejoice and be glad in it”  Psalm 118:24

There are only so many hours in the day, time is finite.  No matter how badly I may want more time to accomplish more things, I have to be realistic about what can be done today.  Each day is a gift and is intended to fulfill a specific purpose.  There is gladness and peace in knowing that.

Thankfully, business at my booth has picked up since March and things are steadily marching out the door.  That does mean though that I have to be more on top of getting my new inventory ready.  I’m about 75% finished with another dining table and chair set.DSC08827The weather cooperated this weekend and I was able to sneak in a few hours of furniture painting.IMG_2548I think maybe by Wednesday or Thursday I can be finished with this set.  So stay tuned for more pictures! I’m trying out a new paint, and will also be able to share more about how it works.IMG_2549So thank you for all of your patience while I’m behind.  More great things are coming, just at a little slower pace.  I hope you all are finding your purpose in today.

I am type A too and struggle with that as well. Having kids sure has a way of teaching you to go with the flow sometimes. Love the photo with your kids! Have an awesome day! Blessings, Deborah

Thanks Deborah. Having kids has taught me so many things, as well as humbled me more than I could have wanted :)

Thank you Gina! I've been redoing furniture for years now, but have had this business and booth space for a little over 2 years.

I love the photo too. Photos can be like a little window into someone's real self. The only other photo I have seen of you led me to wonder if you were one of the "all buttoned up and Miss Perfect" types ! Glad to see that you are not. Sometimes its good to just be "real"and just have some fun. Also eager to see what you think of the paint. It is for sale in my area of Missouri and I have wondered about it. I am kinda new to your blog...wondering if you have ever made your own plaster paint/chalk paint before ? I started out with it and have never tried a "store bought" one yet, mainly because of the cost. AND I like that light green color...rather vintage look I'd bet. When I was a kid..an elderly couple lived in a farm house across the road from us...most EVERYTHING in their house was that color. Maybe that is why I have that impression of that light green. Eager to see the finished project and more of that color. Oh, BTW, LOVE the boys vests...very handsome on them..

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed our crazy Easter picture. And yes, I can clean up well for a professional picture, but I am most comfortable with no make-up, and in jean shorts with a t-shirt. And I never have my nails done. Ever. With 3 boys, I have learned to embrace as much crazy in life as I can tolerate, which has grown over the years :) I'm about 85% finished with the table and I definitely have some opinions to share on the paint. I think that green color is like the ultimate vintage green. I imagine many an older farmhouse had that color as a staple. And thank you for the comment on the vests. Easter is the one day of the year they will humor me and wear something so cute :)

So glad to have found you - I am in need of inspirational furniture painters!

The pic of you and the children is priceless - you are feeling goofy and ARGH - the boys are being little boys and your baby girl is crying. Seriously that pic could win an award - it says soooooo much, what a classic. LOVE it.

Hi Michele :) So glad you came by too. And glad you liked the picture. It was pretty funny! It seems so much easier to get crazy pictures of everyone than a nice picture where we're all looking at the camera and smiling, you know?
