I think I am on my seventh antique iron bed . . . I don’t mean me personally, but my shop rather. I have stocked and sold six antique iron beds since moving to my larger space this past February, and here is the newest addition to my inventory.
It’s a basic twin size bed frame, not quite as ornate as some others I have had, but still beautiful.
Somewhere along the way the footboard to this bed made its exit, leaving just the base.
It’s fully functional though, and will be a good fit for someone with a tight space.
I love, love, love antique iron beds. Several companies currently make reproductions of these beds, but I like the originals, chippy paint and all.
They sell really well in my space also, and are fantastic to display. I’ve learned to buy them whenever I see one for sale at a reasonable price (which for my market is under $100).
I’ve sold white beds,
black beds,
a green bed,
and even a pink bed.
I don’t have space in my own home for one of these beds, but I get to enjoy them vicariously through my customers. If I had a guest room though, or space enough in my boys’ room for two twin beds, I would use antique iron beds in a heartbeat.
Oh, if only!!!
Until I can enjoy one of my own, I guess I will just keep finding them for you all 🙂
The twin size black bed is now for sale at my ACM booth space, $105.

Awesome post! I just bought this beauty and was wondering if you could tell me what’s the best paint to use, spray or brush?

Really you could use either! A spray would probably be easier since you're not painting a flat surface, but it tends to to be messier and use a lot more paint. A brush will be slower work, but you will make less mess and waste less paint!

Thanks Tamara. I liked the pink one a lot too. It had some neat turquoise paint under the chippy pink too.

I agree, iron beds are so pretty and such a great reminder of yesteryear. I really like them in the black paint.

Agreed Dawn. The black paint gives them a neat, industrial look that I think makes them suitable for a more masculine space--most of the other colors look pretty feminine.
